| - I was staying at the Palace Station and my friend recommended the Oyster Bar. Now I'm an oyster lover and could live on eating seafood everyday but I had never had a pan roast before! Embarrassing right?! And I have the nerve to call myself a foodie and a Yelp Elite...
I started with the raw oysters, seafood cocktail, and raw clams. Other places usually display these items on a bed of ice as part of the ambiance but instead... they literally just took the frozen shrimp out of a bag that looked like it had been purchased at Costco and then peeled it. The oysters came out of a brown cardboard box before it was shucked and served. Frozen then served... It tasted good though! lol
They have a digital menu on the wall and hand you paper menu's although there is only one thing that you should order here. PAN ROAST!! I knew according to Yelp that I was going to order the combination pan roast but just for kicks, my eyes glanced over the menu and my eyes stopped at the familiar dishes I'd had before, such as gumbo, bouillabaisse, etc. and I ordered a gumbo as well just in case the pan roast was a disappointment.
NO DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! Even with the frozen seafood, deelish!!!!!
They cook it in front of you and the pan roast was unlike anything I had ever tasted before. It;s like someone had taken all my favorites and put them in a blender to make the base. The sauce was rich, buttery, creamy, flavorful, zesty, delicious. I googled the recipe and will try to make it but if you had never had it before and want to know what it tastes like, let's put it this way... If I had to describe it and make it with only 3 ingredients, I would use the crab fat of a dungeness crab, the buttery middle of a raw oyster and a tomato. Sounds delish right? Rich, creamy, buttery delicious goodness.
Ate there 3 days in a row.... No line, no wait, lucky me.
Love love love this place. Only downside is that there is always a line and a wait (except for when I go).
Things to note, average dish is $20+pp which might be pricey for some in a casino bar however portions are huge so you can split it with someone or eat it later that day like I did. I spent about $75 each time I came.
There are only about 6 burners to cook on at one time and about 15 seats or so, so be prepared to spend about an hour there but it's worth it. The end.
