  • I've always liked the Bellagio, but this last visit has firmly placed it in the category of my top 5 Strip casinos to visit. I usually make a point to drop by and check out the Conservatory, and also to watch the fountain show. This trip, I happened to be standing outside the casino on the back half of the pond where I had a perfect view of the show and also the rainbows arcing back and forth - very cool! It's deliberately one of the more upscale hotels in the area, although slightly older, but its classical European decor is definitely my taste. The Chihuly glass in the lobby is worth a look, and if you're a window-shopper, there's some fun stores to wander past. I had never gambled here, thinking that the slots would be too tight, but on this trip I had time to kill and found not only the 1 cent Texas Tea slot that I had been searching for the whole time, but also 5 cent video poker. You can tell I like to live dangerously. I popped some money into the video poker and was doing OK-ish, then hit 4 of a kind and I was up $30+. Score! I gambled a bit more at other casinos over the trip, and was slightly under but thanks to my "big win" at the Bellagio, I went home with an extra $40. Cool fact: Bellagio has one of two Steinway pianos in Las Vegas. Not-so-cool: My phone had no reception anywhere on the hotel grounds, even outside by the fountains.
