I was in the market to purchase a red iguana and made the drive from Flagstaff to Phoenix in search of one. I went to four different Petco's, but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. On the way back to Flagstaff I made one final stop at this Petco and saw exactly the red iguana I wanted. There was an employee helping another family and said he would be with us as soon as he was finished helping the current customers. I waited and waited. I went to the front of the store to see him outside collecting stray carts. I approached Chelsea at the cash register to ask for someone to help me. It took a few minutes to catch her attention as she was actively ignoring me by pretending to be preoccupied by cutting out a bar code of a package and taping it to a receipt. I said "excuse me, can I get some help by the iguana tank?" She replied that she was busy and would call someone to help when she was finished. I went back to the tank and waited. And waited. And waited. My boyfriend went back up to the register and waited for the lady in line to finish her transaction before asking Chelsea again for some assistance at the iguana tank. Chelsea responded with an annoyed exhale, followed by a snotty "it'll BE a minute". That was enough to send him on his heels to the iguana tank area to inform me that we were leaving. (In the 10 years I've known him, he has never made this demand) Passing by the registers, I asked again why we weren't getting help. Chelsea informed me through squinty eyeliner that there were only two cashiers and both were VERY busy. I turned to my right to see other cashier just standing there with wide eyes- no customers. I asked to speak to a manager and Chelsea informed me that he was VERY busy too. I made sure to take a quick look at her name tag and exited the store shaking my head in complete disappointment. I called corporate to make a formal complaint only to find out that lovely Chelsea's title is "Guest Service Specialist". Avoid this place if you're looking for any assistance from the employees as they are too busy with their egos. Congratulations Petco, you just lost two loyal customers.
