Couldn't have asked for a better emergency vet. I live 30 miles south of the valley, in the desert, where my dog got into a scuffle with a rattlesnake (after normal business hours of course). After looking online for something nearby, my regular vet's website had 1st Pet Vet listed as an emergency contact so I called. The person who answered was very kind, very fast with the answers to my questions and said they'd be awaiting our arrival. When we got there, doors were help open for us and we were ushered directly to an exam room. The vet was in the room in under 2 minutes. Extremely knowledgeable, all the staff was friendly & courteous and quick to take action to help. Of course my dog isn't the best patient. She was rescued from the MCACC e-list (due to being fearful) and from her actions appeared to have been abused by a man. I was assured no male techs or vets would touch her without extreme cautiousness. While treatment needed to be swift, everyone who came in or out was quiet and gentle with her because she is very distrusting of anyone new. Besides the rotten circumstance for being there, they made it as good an experience as I could've ever asked for. Pricey? Absolutely. Anti-venom ain't cheap, no matter where you go. Price was within the range of what I'd been told to expect by friends who'd been through this before. If we ever have to do this again, I'll definitely take her back to 1st Pet.
