| - I give this company no stars!! DO NOT USE THEM!
As the other postings, my situation was similar. My daughter was moving to college and we actually shopped around and went with Elite because they were the lowest quote, touted no hidden fees and that our move one state over would take up to 5 days.
Our quote was $860 for a full size bed, a tv stand, a three cushion couch, a night stand and 10 medium sized boxes. We added a rear projection TV to the move order. I called my Elite rep Donna, who joked with me about the size of the TV and she added another $100 to my quote. We were prepared to pay $960.
They came the last day we could move after giving us a 2 day window. We were told they would be here between 12-2 pm. They showed up at 8:30 pm and when they got done assessing her items I was told it was $1745! We had even removed 5 of the 10 boxes. My daughter had to move that day at the latest. She was starting a job in another state. We couldn't tell them to forget it and we were certain there was some mistake. 56% is a huge error in a suposedly reputable, experienced moving companies estimate.
We called the manager, Roy Erhardt the next day. He refused to speak on the phone to my husband because he didnt initiate the contract. When I got on the phone he said I could be anyone and wouldn't speak to me. He said I could contact him via the email address I used to receive my quote.
After a week, Roy told me the TV and her bed head board and foot board were not accounted for in my estimate. I told him the TV most definitely was and I informed the rep that we had a full size bed. I was told that didn't include a headboard and foot board. So, basically an IKEA particle board bed frame that cost 180 bucks supposedly costs over $700 to move. I emailed Roy again, feeling his answer was unsatifactory. I didnt understand how I was not asked if there was an actual bed with the mattresses or why I would need to even think about that. Don't most people have a complete bed. I was clearly dumbfounded Here is his response:
"The paperwork made it to our company to the dispatcher and did not even have a chance to make it into our office as it stayed with the dispatcher for loading. As I am sure you already know a call was made notifying you of delivery. I know that this was one of your concerns and luckily your delivery as it turns out will be fairly expeditious. In regards to the volume I pretty much covered it in the last email as far as the few additional items and the difference of national averages vs the items that were presented for moving. Once again you state in your last email "we clearly did not have twice the amount to move". Its not a matter of the amount of items that we charge by, it is the volume of the move and the volume used is confirmed with the person onsite at the pickup when the move is completed. I really have nothing further in this move to review. Please do not forget to take into account any packing material costs into the difference as well."
He never clarified the 56% increase in price.
My daughters stuff arrived today - 13 days later, not 5. We were told the day of her move it could take 14. I was looked at like I had a third eye when I asked about the 5. Not really sure what is expeditious about this. She was charged another $200 because there was a moving truck in her moving trucks way, so they simply parked and behind it versus seeing how long it would be there, and charge her another $200.
THIS COMPANY IS UNETHICAL AND TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE CONSUMER WITH NO CONSCIENCE. THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES ARE ATROCIOUS AND THEY ARE LIARS. THIS IS A SCAM!
