  • Man. I normally like Lowes, but tonight's trip was not good. To be fair, I had to run there at 8:30 p.m., and they close at 9. My goal was to get in and out. I'm at the store enough to know my way around, but I was struggling to find a security bar for my front door. (They ended up being on the very bottom shelf on their sides, so they were difficult to spot.) I spent a good 15 minutes searching for someone to help me find these bars, and at one point, a female employee near the carpet area locked eyes with me and actively walked in the opposite direction before I could ask for her help. I finally found someone, and trying my best to remain pleasant, he gruffly told me which aisle they were in (mind you, I had already gone up and down this aisle to no avail). Finally, a few minutes later, the same man who told me which aisle came to the aisle to point the bar out. When I went to check out, only one aisle was open and a line began to form. I was the second person in line behind a family not paying attention to their small children running up and down aisles (not Lowe's fault, but my patience was certainly tried). A second cashier opened offering to take the "next person in line," and thank goodness the family who wasn't watching their kids pointed out that I was next when a rush of people from the back of the line started to move to the now-opened register. Frankly, I'm just cranky from a bad trip, and I am aware that I am ultimately responsible for my feelings, but man. This could have been very different if everyone working were just on their A-game. When you see a frustrated/stressed-out customer, don't just passively tell them which aisle something is in. Show them! If a store is about to close, have your employees actively trying to help customers get in and out. Step up your game, Lowes. I want to like you!
