| - After a long day of driving from Albuquerque and hitting stops all over Arizona, we finally make it to Vegas. At 23:00, not a lot of places off the strip were open, but fortunately Joyful House was there to help appease our hunger.
We were loopy, tired, and exhausted. So we quickly got to ordering here at this fairly large Cantonese seafood restaurant in Chinatown.
My friend and I decided to split three different dishes, all of which were about $12 for the plate for family style:
1. Crispy Fried Marinated Chicken - often served at Chinese banquets, this dish was pretty good with its thinly fried skin and white meat chicken. I thought it could've used a bit more flavor but it wasn't bad.
2. Crispy Salt Pepper Pork Chops - these are some of my favorite to order at Chinese restaurants and these were simply okay here at Joyful. Lacked a bit of punch.
3. Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce - great veggie selection with drizzled hoisin right on top. You really can't go wrong with this option.
At $12 a plate, it is a bit pricy compared to most other Chinese restaurants I've been to. The only exception would be the chicken, but given that it was only a decent meal, I probably wouldn't necessarily come back unless they really amped up the flavor in their food.
If you are craving Chinese and just need a late night option that works, then Joyful can certainly be your spot.
