| - My co-worker and I have this thing about "what are we doing for lunch today". It's a pinky and the brain banter-type of conversation we have daily. It's quite comical. So today, he opened his Urban Spoon app, shook his phone and out popped My Mother's Restaurant. Being the adventurous types that we are, we said, "what the hell", let's do it. He had a hankering for comfort food anyway. So off we went. I must say, first impression was: boy this place is old and country-like. The decor just takes you into the country instantly. From the time you sit down, you should have a pretty good idea of what to expect.
Then come the menus. We chose and there comes a basket of fresh, warm, wheat loaf bread.. the best I've tasted in forever.
We had the lunch specials. I tried the chicken fried steak and my partner had the turkey with stuffing. It was oooohhhh sooooo yuuummmm.
I don't normally order desert, but I HAD to take a slice of apple pie back to the office so I could consume it with much joy once it cooled down (I do not like warm pie). The pie was DELISH! Well worth the 4.99 for the 1lb slice.
My partner actually got upset that we had not been to My Mother's before today. We are definitely making another trip soon.
The food came out quick, but we still ended up going just over an hour, so plan ahead if you're on a time crunch for lunch.
