I had an 11 year old child in MRI and it was very difficult. This is NOT the place to take a child! Go to PCH or at least ask MRI staff if the workers and equipment can handle with a child and what they do (i.e. earphones, soft toy to hold, TV for distraction, sedation, etc. ). The child has to be still, STILL, for 30 minutes! We got a bad reading that took excessively long because of the terror my child experienced. We were sent here from next door (Phoenix Neurology & Sleep Medicine) and when it wasn't successful calming my child, I went back next door and staff suggested we run to the store and purchase melatonin and benedryl to get child to be sleepy during process.
