Let me preface this review by stating that we are business travelers and are often in the air 2-3 times per week throughout the year. We have flown so much that I fly for free with my husband wherever he goes and he has been in the top tier of his rewards status for over 4 years. I believe this gives me a bit of an advanced understanding of airlines and their service. In regards to Allegiant, I wish I had the option to rate "no stars". This airline is cheap for a reason. I just booked a flight a little over an hour ago paying for their "Trip Flex" service. The screen that comes up after selecting that option during booking does not describe the service well so I assumed it would be refundable if I paid the added fee. I understood that without Trip Flex I would be charged a $75 fee for cancellation/changes. Well, what I got in place of any refund was a voucher that has to be used through Allegiant. The word "voucher" wasn't even mentioned on the screen that came up when selecting the option. It may be hidden/imbedded in the FAQs page but being that I was under duress to book I did not go through and research the whole airline trusting that upon selecting the option I would be given the facts as I experience at other airlines. I have never and will never use Allegiant as today was out of desperation. I would never use a service with such a scam of a cancellation policy and finding that they charge for carry-on baggage was completely crazy. Unless you really need to get somewhere and absolutely cannot spring for one of the larger carriers stay away from Allegiant. They may have a cheap ticket but by the time you add all bag fees including 1 for your carry-on and other services you will be at the about the same cost as a ticket with Southwest Airlines who will allow you to cancel and change for free. They will also let you bring a carry-on and 1 checked bag for free and allow you to print your boarding pass without paying $5. Even Spirit airlines keeps the reasonable stuff free and they were my worst experience until today. Heed the reviews and low rating here and spring for an established carrier because the ticket they offer at like $90 will end up at $140 if not more after they a la carte all of the basic needs that come with travel.
