From an SFriscan to LVegan... it was definitely a change moving from a city surrounded by water to a city surrounded by desert. However, you have proven to me that LV is not just a city of sins, but also a city worth living in... at least, for a few years of my life.
No, it ain't SF... but LV food finds can be quite impressive too! Leave it to the LOCALS knowing all the best joints! LV offers a wide variety of eats... from variations of Chinese, to Japanese sushi, ramen, & izakayas, to Indian lunch buffets, to fusion spots, tasty gyros, cheap eats, fancy steakhouses, $2.99 steak & eggs, $2 Coronas & Jager shots, late-nite ox tail soup for under $10, to 24-hour Korean eats... YESSS! Oh... and not to forget, LV is jumping on the food truck bandwagon too... no comparison to Portland or SF, but LV trucks are proving to be pretty yummy!!! :-9
No, it ain't SF... but LV peeps are pretty cool too! I've met a wide variety of folks here... some have even become my closest friends. However, I'm sorry to say, but stereotypes and close-mindedness still exists. Unfortunately, I've encountered a few not so open minded folks, but I guess a difference is on my part, that being raised in SF. But, for the most part... everyone is quite pleasant!
No, it ain't SF... but LV has proven that there are plenty of FUN spots to flock to! I get bored very easily... but with hiking at Red Rock, Mt. Charleston, & Lake Mead Rec area, plenty of interesting museums to see, local discounts on LOTS of shows, people watching on the strip, the remodeling of downtown Fremont Street, plenty of FUN-tastic Yelp events, and countless of cheap & FREE stuff to do!!! ...btw, I shud mention that most of these spots are away from the strip.
No, it ain't SF... but LV weather aint too shabby either! I like the sun! ...and 3 months of extreme cold + 3 months of extreme heat + 6 months of decent warm sunshine... the trade-off isn't too bad! I just gotta be sure I moisturize after each shower or swim... cuz the dryness is not a friend to my skin.
No, it ain't SF... where I learned to parallel park, to drive thru narrow streets, to manually shift up & down hills, to navigating thru windy rain & intense fog... In LV, there are frequent reports of DUI and people getting into accidents or run over... oh gosh... I haven't even started with burglaries/robberies, but that's a whole different story so anywaysss... Drivers drive staggered in the lanes, apparently they do not comprehend the purpose of the "Slower Traffic Keep Right" sign. Are they locals? Idk... but with a city where folks are visiting from all over the world, who knows? Thus, I stand on my ground to say that drivers in LV really suck!
Despite it all... I do consider LV my second home. I have found some great eats, met some awesome folks whom several have become my friends for life... experienced plenty of fun, laughs, & cries... created a multitude of memories that I will cherish... and for that, I can't dislike you... but LV, I thank you for everything you have given me!
