| - I saw Dr. Baraz twice since she left her private practice to join IMS, I liked her well enough, & though not particularly warm, she knows her stuff, she's candid and always answered all questions. Her staff was very courteous. First visit to IMS was fine, though a notice to patients she was moving would have been nice. 2nd visit last week - horrible. I had spaced that I should have seen her in 3/17 & apparently had not set up my next. appt. at the last one. I am diabetic. My scripts had run out recently; when the pharmacy called IMS for refills, it was advised I needed to come in first. Just prior, my PCP ran a full blood workup, that included all tests she has ordered in the past couple of years I have seen her (I checked), so I dropped off a copy of the lab work which was about 2 weeks old, advised what I was out of & tried to schedule an appt. asap. I would have been happy with a weeks' worth of meds & an appt. I was told she would be messaged & they would call me, which they did, to tell me she wanted to see me first & I could been be seen the next day at 3:30. I advised I had a prior appt. the following day that ended at 3:30, a few blocks away - & was told as long as I arrived by 3:45 no problem. So I left my other appt. a few min. early & arrived the next day, signing in by 3:38. After approx 10 min. my name was called for ins. & approx 10 min later I was called back. As soon as the lobby door closed, the MA or whoever she was, rudely said "I was just about to leave, its about time you got here." I told her I'd been sitting in the waiting room for 20 min, to which she scoffed and said "uh huh, you were just checked in". I told her what I had been advised about 3:45 and got no response but a dirty look & "get on the scale", then to the room, she took my vitals, said "she'll be in" and walked out. About 10 min after that Dr. Baraz walked in, sat down, asked me how things were going, then told me she didn't like the mix of meds I was on. I told her she prescribed them, 1 of which she put me on last year, which I was reluctant to take due to taking it previously & gaining 19 lbs. in under a month. She told me this wouldn't be an issue. It was an issue & I gained more weight. The other scripts I had been on for years. We discussed insulin briefly, which I'm trying to stay away from due to weight gain. My A1C was 6.9. She told me she'd write refills but I had to return in 6 mo & we'd go over strategy - fine. Then she to on me about my weight. I have struggled with weight my entire life, and diabetes & other issues & mix of meds certainly don't help. She kept telling me I needed to count my calories. I've been advised by various doctors that the biggest thing I need to watch is carbs, followed by sugar, then calories, of which I am well aware. I asked her how many calories she would suggest & she said 1000. I said that's probably more than I eat now & she responded "I doubt it." She's wrong, it is. She seemed put out and that was about the time I noticed the door had been open the entire time. She paused at the door, reminded me again about calories and walked out. I heard a man outside the office ask her "hey doc, what school did you go to that taught you about counting calories to lose weight" & she responded "any school", then I heard laughter. I was beyond mortified and furious by this time, so I waited a min. before walking out of the office, to see a slender man about my age (60's), who gave me a disgusted look from head to foot. I bit my tongue, went in the restroom to calm down, & came out a few min. later to see him still standing there. I started to walk to the exit, when the same MA asked me if I was going to set up my 6 mo appt. & I said "when I get to the front desk". Why I walked back is beyond me but I did, set the appt. while getting yet another look from this idiot standing there (thought at least the MA was not snarky this time) then I left. I have NEVER been treated this way by any staff or physician.
