  • I would never return and never recommend anyone to your business. It is very disheartening to me, since we came to Dave's as a referral, and expected to be treated with honesty. Instead, we were duped into fixing a non issue, being told it would fix the problem we came in with. Additionally, when we sought resolution through the BBB to have a portion of our expense returned, whoever fills out your responses flat out LIED. The facts are: -We came in with an intermittent issue with our A/C not blowing. The diagnosis from "the machine" was a small leak. After numerous phone calls and expressing our concern that fixing a leak was not addressing the actual problem--we were assured that the blower was working perfectly and no issue could be found with it. "I can't speak to that" is the exact quote I heard several times from your technician, Keenan when asked about the blower. Because of the good reputation of your business, we agreed with the repair. $594. to repair the leak, replace windshield wipers and an oil change. Higher than the norm, but if it fixes the car and we can be confident in the work, worth it. -A week later, the A/C stopped working again. We brought it in, and shocker--the blower motor was "dead" this time and would cost an additional $600 to repair. We hoped that a discount would be offered, since it was the exact same reason we brought the car in the week before. We were told that the part was more than $275 (not true), and most of it was labor, so there really wasn't a discount we could be offered. (but since it's literally a 30 minute repair at most, that was also not true) Additionally, the records never mentioned the intermittent issue, just that the a/c wasn't blowing cold. THIS WAS NOT THE ISSUE, EVER. We reiterated this over and over. ****We were also told nothing came up on "the machine" the first time, and they're a busy shop and could not spend 20-30 minutes driving around to recreate the issue.***** Unfortunately, my husband became extremely upset with this and was asked to leave due to his outburst. -On the way home, we stopped at another mechanic and as soon as we mentioned what was happening, we were told "sounds like a short" (wouldn't ANY mechanic hear "intermittent issue" think of that--especially if nothing came up on "the machine"??) and were quoted a price HALF of what your business quoted us. I also researched the parts and found that both parts we needed could be purchased for under $100. -Having just spent $600 the week before, we had to discuss whether or not to go ahead, when lo and behold, the blower started working again. So not "dead" as diagnosed by Dave's. It was at that point that my husband submitted a claim with the BBB to at least have the portion spent on "repairing" the a/c refunded. Your business responded with lies. My husband had been on vacation from work and NOT DRIVING the car. He drove the car home from your shop, and to work ONE DAY when the a/c stopped working again, approximately 15 miles, max, and your representative said there were over 100 miles put on the car in the week between the first repair and bringing it back. This is simply not true, no matter how many days elapsed. They also mentioned how old the car is--which has no relevance to the issue. Sure, the car is 17 years old, but the age of the car should have nothing to do with properly diagnosing a problem or repairing it correctly. If your business can't accommodate older cars, then that should be something you tell clients when they bring the car there--not used as an excuse as to why you couldn't diagnose or repair a simple problem. Your people repeated the same lies in responding to my husbands' yelp review. This is not how you maintain the good reputation you are proud of. If you are in the right, you shouldn't have to lie about anything. Now, I know you pay to be a member of the BBB, so it's not like they really do much, but we have resubmitted the claim with the BBB, and I would appreciate your attention to resolving this, rather than dismissing it and responding with more lies. A business that boasts of ethics and integrity shouldn't be afraid to be truthful.
