  • My boyfriend and I were rushing around town doing errands and stopped by here because it was nearby where we were at at the time. They had a walk in and weren't badly priced so we went with it. We didn't give much direction, which had always been fine at R&Z Company. Shorter on the sides with more on top to style it back. Note my boyfriend came in with very shaggy hair, so "short" to us doesn't mean borderline buzz cut. Which, unfortunately, is what my boyfriend got. She took everything he said, but to the extreme. The top was incredibly long and the sides and back were incredibly short. She never mentioned cutting the back that short and neither did we. So that was a surprise. We thought she was going to leave it a bit longer like the top. I was sitting on my phone, not really paying attention. I look up to see his sides practically buzz cut. I didn't know what to say. I'm not good with conflict with strangers. I didn't really want to make the stylist feel bad and I certainly did not want to make my boyfriend self conscious. I sat there, building up the confidence to actually speak up when asked of my opinion. Eventually she turned him around and asked. I said it looked douchey. The look on the lady's face couldn't have been snobbier. She asked what was wrong with it. "Well, the sides. They're... much shorter." Her attitude kept getting worse. She asked me what to do. I had no idea. I don't know how to style men's hair. I'm a woman and I've spent all my time researching how to style and cut women's hair. I really had no idea, but I did not want her cutting it shorter so I told her to just leave it like that. The stylist just kept mumbling, "I did what you said," in a snobby tone. She went to start the final touch ups, but she lost her temper. You could tell she wanted to look over to me and say, "Well, what do you know?" She stopped part way through and didn't finish the final touches. She made the other stylist come out to check out my boyfriend. I was furious at that point. I know I looked shitty at the time. I'd had a panic stricken horrible day. I had been running all over town trying to find replacement shoes for a wedding the next day. I had to leave in a rush and didn't take the time to look nice. But I don't care that my hair wasn't styled, I didn't have a full face on, and I had shabby clothes. It doesn't excuse being treated so horribly like that. The ONLY positive thing about this store is that they had a nice selection of B&B. The best I've seen in town, honestly. I'd just rather use Aveda and never come back to this store. Looks like R&Z Company will get to keep their customers. By the way, I think the stylist was Heather. I'm not one hundred percent sure on that, though. tl; dr Shitty service, shitty pompadour cut that was not asked for, shitty customer service, but they carry nice products you can buy online.
