| - Worst hotel experience I've had with the rudest hotel manager imaginable. Her name is Amy and I've never seen a woman in upper management act so stereotypically hysterical. My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights and were placed in a room on a floor under construction. It looked terrible in the hall and I was annoyed to see notices that they would be making noisy renovations, but it got so much worse after we incurred water damage on all of our clothing and shoes. Some pipe burst causing damage, so the manager came to the floor and instead took out her frustrations on us. My boyfriend had just come in from smoking and as soon as she smelled him, without mentioning the water damage, she started yelling and (I later found out) charged him a smoking fee without even coming into the room where she would have seen and smelled no smoke, ash, or even a lighter. She freaked out and slapped an "affected" label outside our door without mentioning what our room was affected by or offering us a room change.
A couple hours later I noticed my socks were wet and was horrified to find the entire carpet by the wall soaked, along with all our belongings still in the suitcase. It smelled awful and I had to drape our clothes around the room to dry, and they still smelled. The next morning the room next door was being cleaned with a loud evaporator at 7am when the signs mentioning the work on the rooms being done only after 9am.
We went to complain to the manager and dispute the charge (that she never mentioned), we were told by the assistant manager that Amy was gone but that she was very apologetic for the extra charge and water damage and would have the manager call us back. The bank reversed the smoking charge and I was expecting to hear from the hotel, but instead of calling back like she was supposed to, Amy charged the card AGAIN without our consent. I'm just glad I took videos and can prove my horrible experience in court if they won't do the right thing.
