| - Don't let the attractive facade fool you. This place is awful. Air conditioning units are insufficient for 3 stories, so the air only works in the living room and master bedroom. Be prepared to buy additional portable AC units. Mine has broken 3 times during the summer and it took them several days to fix it, but they didn't consider it an emergency. The AC is also ridiculously loud, so go ahead and buy earplugs (which you will need for the nightly "Who has the loudest car stereo?" contests). ZERO storage space. Closets are tiny and have no light fixtures. No walk-in closets at all. Small bathtubs - no bubble baths for you! Very small bedrooms. The 1st floor and 3rd floor bathrooms are so small that you have to stand in front of the toilet to shut the doors. The walls are paper thin and the windows leak. Go ahead and make friends with the cockroaches and ants that live in your walls, as they're not going anywhere.
Garages hold two cars and nothing else - again, no storage space. The lease says we can't use the garages for storage, yet they want us to keep disgusting trash cans in them. Just switch us to dumpsters. Due to small garages, zero storage, and lack of parking, people park illegally all over the place, yet management only cares if they park in the "FUTURE RESIDENT" spots.
Very narrow streets with no traffic mirrors or stop signs or anything for safety. Make sure you have good brakes before you come in. Kids constantly playing unattended in the streets. Juvenile delinquents wandering around, playing ding-dong-ditch and stealing stuff (honestly, you steal my Christmas decorations right off my door?). Creepy residents who don't seem to have jobs that sit around in their garages or balconies, smoking various substances and BBQing all day long - forget opening your windows for fresh air.
Half of the residents have dogs that they keep locked up in the garages or on balconies, so you hear the heartbreaking barking and whimpering of miserable animals. For the ones that actually take care of their dogs, they don't pick up the dog poo. Pigeon poo all over the sidewalks that maintenance doesn't clean.
This is not a safe place, either. The back gate that faces the Galleria mall is constantly vandalized or left propped open, presumably so people can shortcut through the complex to a nearby bus stop. Management periodically changes the lock, but doesn't tell residents, so I have gotten stuck outside of the fence when my key didn't work and had to climb it to get over. Again, many of the residents are suspicious. They are seeming healthy adults that are nowhere near retirement age, yet sit around all day acting like they are up to no good, with visitors constantly coming and going. I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of Breaking Bad business is going on around here. A former neighbor said management accepts section 8 applicants, so while I can't confirm it you may want to keep that in mind.
Worst of all is the management that took over some time in mid 2014. They don't answer the phone or respond to messages. They show up late, close early, and take long lunch breaks. They changed the pool open hours to 24/7 without telling residents. They are too cheap to mail notices, so they tape it to your garage. They were proud of some stupid "resident portal" they'd started so that we could pay rent online, but wrote everyone's unique user ID and password and taped it to our doors. Yep, totally safe, right?
I'll be moving out as soon as my lease it up. Please do not live here.
Edit: management responded with some bold-faced lies. They only monitor illegal parking during business hours. They never sent formal notice that the pool hours had changed. Yes, they close the office while they are showing apartments, but they either don't put up the sign or don't show up on time. The lock on the back gate DOES NOT work and yes, it has been changed and vandalized multiple times (though with the revolving door of management and staff, they may have no idea this is happening). Yes, they taped stuff to my garage and front door, including my password for their portal. Recently they sent an unprofessional email full of spelling and grammar mistakes to residents asking them to watch out for children playing in the street and to use more caution when driving - yet they won't put in speed bumps or traffic mirrors or anything of the sort to help with safety. Again, trust me - don't live here.
