  • This update is for the VIP Theater in this location. There is quite a bit of up-charge to watch movies here (double on a matinee Tuesday showings and 6$ on normal days). I watched the movie in VIP 1 Theater. My initial impression was I had walked into a fancy purpose built home theater. I think there were 25-30 seats total. Good part is all of them are reclining leather seats and are very comfortable. You get your space as only 2 seats are together and small sized table next to put in your stuff separates you from others. You can bring alcoholic drinks here and there is even a dedicated VIP washroom. So full marks for the amenities here. However being a home theater enthusiast I found the screen to be small (seating distance shouldn't be more than 2X the screen size according to the experts) and the sound system didn't have the oomph this place should have. A nice idea and if you are annoyed by crowds this is an ideal environment. However if you want the grandeur of watching an action movie in its full glory with a huge screen and killer sound I would choose the Ultra AVX at the other Cineplex or the trusty old IMAX! Update having seen a few flicks at the VIP theater on Dundas Square and having experienced their non VIP theater as well. I am lowering it down to 2 stars as they even have premium for the regular theater. I came here for the 70MM screening of Hateful 8 and sadly things went to a terrible start. They don't have assigned seating and knowing that we went in earlier. However the seats we got had ultra sticky floors (pop and butter from pop corns hopefully). Not wanting to sit over 3 hours in filth I went out and asked an associate to have the spot cleaned. To my shock they outright refused saying that they didn't have a radio to ask someone and I should ask someone else with a radio. Sure enough I ask someone else and the answer I got was they didn't get a chance to clean in between the shows so no deal! Finally I spotted a Manager and asked for help and the situation was resolved. Now even with a 70MM presentation the screen didn't wow nor did the sound system immerse. Its sad one ends up here watching movies that are not being shown elsewhere. Also if you are watching a movie with someone who requires accessibility be warned of the ridiculous route you have take to get them in Theater 7 and 8. I would say just stick to Dundas and Scotia and forget this place even existed.
