  • Red Rock Canyon is truly a Nevada beauty. What's great about this place is there is always something beautiful to see regardless of how much time you have to spend there. We didn't plan our visit very well so we only spent about half day there doing the scenic drive but for those who love to hike/boulder, you can easily spend an entire day there with more to come on a return trip. Good hiking shoes are a must if you do plan on hiking. Other than that, regular athletic shoes is fine for the drive, just in case you may want to venture in a little bit further for any of the stops. The visitor center is really well kept and with lots of interactive, informative graphics (great for kids). Probably one of the nicest visitor centers I've ever encountered. Plenty of clean running water restrooms and they have one of those water fountains that makes it easy to refill your reusable bottle (stand up). Once you are on the drive, there's multiple stops that have outhouses. Bring your own lunch/snacks and plenty of water in if you plan to do an all day thing since once you are in the park, there aren't any food/clean water options (besides the visitor center, but I didn't really spot any food for sale anyways). Within each stop on the drive, there's a small parking lot that gets filled fast. We went on a Monday, so it wasn't super busy but I can see it getting chaotic on the weekends. Also, the drive is a one way road but you can re-enter the park from the beginning with your all day pass ($7). Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in stepping away from all the glitz and glamour of the LV strip!
