| - This is an original Embassy Suites, about 40 years old, so there is no atrium, no cozy lounge for a quiet drink or a meal, so if that's what you're looking for, keep looking. It wasn't horrible: The rooms were clean, and the beds comfortable, but carpets, furniture, furnishings are quite outdated, somewhat worn, and really in need of replacement, especially the carpet which was loose and saggy (wear your shoes in your room to avoid dirty feet/socks!). The shower ran burning hot to cold, and the a/c didn't work so we slept in 80 degree rooms while it was 60 degrees outside (windows don't open). The cooked-to-order breakfast was as good as you'd get at any modern Embassy Suites, but the evening reception was poor: There's a Squaw Peak Café on the premises that serves sandwiches and such during the day, and that's where the evening reception is held. The pictures don't show it's true nature: There's an old bar with a couple of TV's, some tables and that's it. You can get a beer, a well drink, two or three types of wine from the big bottles (a red, a white and a pink), but that's about all--cocktails are limited to a spirit and a mixer in the gin and tonic vein, no daiquiris, Pina Coladas or the like. The food consisted of a bowl of carrots, a bowl of generic Chex mix, and a bowl of melon, seriously? The children enjoyed the pool but, again, everything needs refurbishment. Wouldn't stay there again.
