| - Looks are deceiving!
Jeez, I've been to Vegas three times already and every time we drive by Excalibur I just STARE.I think it's the fact that it reminds me of Cinderella's Castle and it's so beautiful at night. To all my fellow yelpers, ooh'ing and aww'ing at how epic this hotel is, is as far as you should go. Don't stay here unless you're super budget conscious, you get what you pay for.
Check in was the usual. The lady that helped me definitely tried to upsell me. She was going to "upgrade' me for free and then asked for my credit card... um NO. LOL, sneaky sneaky. Watch out for that, if you paid online you should ONLY be paying for the resort fee and that's it. There is no pool or gym, I'm not sure where this money goes to but it would be nice to get shampoo that actually foams, haha.
Honestly, I don't know how "upgraded" the upgraded rooms are because if they are barely better than the standard rooms, it's not worth it. I have a hard time believing the more expensive rooms are that much better. You might as well cruise over to Monte Carlo or Aria and treat YO SELF.
We came here because the group I was with didn't want to drop too many bills. Understandable, considering we were out and about all weekend long, but DANG coming home to the hotel room we had was awful. I definitely learned my lesson LOL, I've never been to a Vegas hotel this bad before.
The room is straight up OLD, it has NEVER been remodeled. The carpets are probably the original ones from who knows when. It's worn down and looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in a long time. DON'T walk around barefoot, I had my shoes on the entire time, I just didn't feel very safe. You should use a disinfecting wipe to clean the shower floor and maybe wear some flip flops in the shower if you're paranoid. Yeah, this place just doesn't seem very clean to me.
Everything is just very gringy, the room has like a moldy/moth ball smell, the furniture and curtains are all dusty. THE BED IS REALLY HARD AND UNCOMFORTABLE. Also... the AC units are CRAZY LOUD. I literally didn't sleep for three days when we were in Vegas. I know, most people are there to party it up and sleeping isn't part of their vocabulary but if you're looking to take a cat nap in between playing slot machines, you might as well sleep on some chair in another hotel lobby somewhere else. The struggle was very real LOL.
Location is pretty good though, a lot to do across the street. I definitely prefer being around that area but I just can't come back LOL. My eczema REALLY started acting up when I stayed here. Be warned!
