| - I took our cat, Max, to Aunt Donna's Grooming today. John is the only cat groomer there. He said he does about 40% cats, the rest dogs. I let him know when I booked the appointment that Max doesn't like water, even water droplets. He said that some cats don't like the sound of running water, but are ok with getting shampooed. He suggested that I accompany Max to an early morning, 7 am, appointment so that he would feel more secure. Max is more of a medium hair cat. For some reason this year, Max was not doing his usual constant grooming and was leaving big chunks of fur around everyday, and he developed some matting for the first time. He really looked like a hot mess. John began with giving him a nail trim. He got that done fast. I was impressed because our vet's office has had trouble doing his nail trims because he fights back. That didn't happen with John. Then, John gave him a trim and combing. Max definitely didn't like it and was hissing much of the time and tried to scratch him. He attempted to give Max a shampoo, but Max wasn't having any of it. He went nutso wacko. Max, I mean. Then, John tried to see how Max would do with the blow dryer, since I said he isn't afraid of the vacuum cleaner. Well, Max really went berserk. So, forget that. John then sprayed some type of leave-in shampoo and smoothed his coat. Max is looking so handsome now and about a pound lighter. John instructed me about the proper way to brush a cat's fur (it's not what you probably think) and said to bring him back for a more thorough brushing and nail trim regularly so that he doesn't get matted again. (The nail trim is included in the grooming fee.) I will be back and I do highly recommend John for your cat's grooming needs.
