| - Cheese lovers: Welcome to Paradise!
As an avid cheeseaholic, I stop in to Penn Mac at least one a week for my fix.
As you enter the building, you'll notice you're in a big room with rustic wooden floors with bins and barrels of spices, nuts, flours, and grains to be spooned into bags and bought by weight. This room opens into two other rooms, one on each side. To the right are sauces, pasta, bread, coffee, and produce... And much more! To the left, a most magical room awaits.
First you'll see the Cheese Wall, which lists all of their regularly-stocked cheeses. It lists them by country, and there are over 20 countries represented on that wall. Some countries, like Italy and France, list several columns worth of cheese varieties.
They also typically have a smaller board of specials; this may be locally made cheeses or limited, small batch cheeses.
I love trying new cheeses, but when in doubt, I gravitate back to the Drunken Goat or D'affinois Brie.
Also worth noting: their handmade ravioli is MARVELOUS, and it comes in unique flavors like Pumpkin Marscapone or Maryland Crab. And don't miss their Foccaccia Bread!
If you go for quality when you're buying groceries, or like authentic Italian food, Pennsylvania Macaroni Company can not be passed up!
