I wished there were a no star button. I made a reservation with my debit card on the website on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018. I drove one hour to get there and arrived around 9pm . The clerk Michelle had me wait. You could tell she was irritable. She asked for my ID and Credit card. I gave her my Rush Card. She said we don't except prepaid cards and dismissed me. She didn't ask if I had another card or anything. She only stated that she would cancel my reservation. I then told her I had a credit card to use to book my room. I gave her a green dot platinum visa. She said this is prepaid an refuse to service me. Furious, I called choice hotels to report the claim. The representative called to speak with Michelle and Michelle insisted that I gave her two prepaid cards which was not true. Had Michelle tried to deescalate the situation seeing that I was a customer and I had drive 1 hour to stay at this particular hotel. She was very confrontational and argued with me to embarrass me in front of other guests. I understand that this is independently owned. However, customer service should be practiced at all times. The representative from choice hotels put my complaint in agreeance that she was nasty to them over the phone as well. My company's owner personally called to speak to Michelle as the night was getting later. She told Michelle that she would call to speak with a manager in the morning and Michelle response was to "Do what you have to do". How is this employee still employed? I called the next morning 10 times to speak with a manager and still did not speak to anyone. I do not suggest this hotel to anyone. I will be reporting this company to the eeoc and the civil Rights division as I am confused about there ethics regarding people of color. I have never felt so out of place and ashamed while patronizing any business of this nature
