  • We ARE NOT COMCAST customers. Last week I phoned Comcast to discuss the services they sell and to compare products and cost with the Phone/Internet/TV service I currently have. Last night at our home we received a robot call 'confirming' our appointment with COMCAST for today to, I can only guess, install???? I phoned the 800 number and spoke to STEVE in sales here in PIttsburgh. He said several things that - given COMCAST's history and reputation - chilled me. #1 -- That there was in fact an order put in for us. I never even remotely ordered any service in my call last week. I only 'shopped'. The very last thing I said to the sales person is that I would discuss the options with my husband. #2 -- because we did have service with COMCAST almost 20 years ago, there is still account information in their system and that was what was used to set up this fake "order" (i.e. my husband's name & social sec #). #3 -- Steve said he couldn't cancel the work order because the "account" is in my husband's name (??!!) and that my husband is the only one who can cancel. This all seems very very fishy to me. The only reason I can think of for COMCAST to create a false order is that they are going to try to cheat us somehow. Bill us for an order we did not create. Since STEVE in sales here in Pittsburgh couldn't give me any real confidence that this would not happen, nor can we ever be removed from COMCAST's system (so that if I ever do call again maybe another false order would be created?) - I am writing about my experience today here in this forum WARNING: Don't call COMCAST and talk to anyone without a worrying that they will create a false order. If in a month or two if it turns out there was nothing to fear and I was being paranoid I'll update this post. But as I said before, this seems very unorthodox and fishy to me.
