| - I guess I shouldn't have expected that much coming here on a Groupon, but my manicure at this spa was disappointing and uncomfortable. I definitely expected more from a place that's supposed to be high-end.
When I arrived at the spa, which was cute and easy to access, they had me down for a pedicure. That would've been totally fine but they kept insisting that I needed to get a pedicure and that everything was already set up. But I clearly said manicure over the phone because I was explaining that I had a Groupon. Maybe they misheard me, but they made me feel like it was such a big inconvenience to them even though it was really a scheduling error on their part.
If you're considering booking this Groupon, don't. It says you can choose from a variety of enhancements that they really don't offer. I asked my manicurist about the gel polish, designs and french manicure. Instead of gel, they use a vegan alternative which is beautiful and eco-friendly but chips as easily as a regular polish. It still counted as one of my enhancements. She told me they could not do designs or french nails so I had to go with the hot oil treatment which was nice, but it wasn't what I wanted. Also, I'm not sure if they were supposed to remove all the oil after the treatment but I was so slippery I could barely drive home-- it was like something out of a cartoon. I had specifically booked this Groupon after sifting through many other similar offers in the area, because I wanted gel with french tips.
I expressed all these issues to the woman at the spa's front desk. She was very nice about it but there wasn't much she could do. This is one of those places where they won't let you forget it if you're using a Groupon. My manicurist had quite the attitude to be honest. There's a little shop in Downtown Phoenix called Moriah II Nails and they have a $20ish manicure with no attitude so I think I'll be sticking to that from now on. They also added a required 20 percent gratuity of the original price of the service, so I ended up paying twice as much as expected for a manicure I could have done myself.
Is this what all spas are like?
