  • I love Half Price Books. Because BOOKS! I love my books, always have. But I also love this chain for two other major reasons: One: I can actually buy books at a reasonable price here - and not only that, I can buy a lot of nifty small items while I'm here feeding my addiction to books as well. Half Price Books of course carries a huge range of books, from travel to YA to history to fantasy and beyond. You can also find comic books, CDs, DVDs and children's gifts here, as well as journals, some stationary and other nice little items along those lines. Not only have I purchased some of my favorite books here over the years - I've been able to find a couple cute gifts and even bought my best pair of headphones here. Heck, I've even debated buying some of their "Doctor Who" themed puzzle boxsets at various points (although when you have cats you often find pieces disappearing as you work on the puzzle). The second reason I love HPB: they have no problem buying stuff off of me. I've sold a huge range of old books, cassette tapes, records...so if you find that you have old stuff along those lines that you'd like to get of your house but don't want to throw out, try selling them here. Obviously you won't get a ton of money for them, but to me it's totally worth it knowing that my items have a chance of being recycled and passed on to someone who wants them. Great inventory, great staff, and a great place to sell old items collecting dust on my shelves - yep, all in all, HPB remains one of my favorite and one of the most affordable shops in the area. They're not perfect since by nature of the business they might not have exactly what you're looking for, but I've often found that a little browsing reveals something even better hidden on their shelves than what you originally wanted. Go check them out!
