| - So I'm from Southern California and I'm in Scottsdale on a business trip. I decided to take an über car to the nail salon from fashion square. I arrived at Gel-Q nails around 5:45/5:50. I came for a full set. The man doing my nails was really nice and funny, but stay tuned. He was doing my nails and making small talk. Around 6:15, I had decided I wanted a pedicure as well. He tells me no because there wouldn't be time amongst the 2 other guests getting pedicures. Mind you it was 6:15 and I was already a paying customer. They closed at 7. I was a bit peeved that they wouldn't stay open for a pedicure, especially since I would have waited patiently, but that is definitely not what makes this place a 2 star. After they told me no time for a pedicure, they told a lady they were willing to take her as a gel manicure. That is what started to piss me off. So he finished shaping my nails and I washed them off. He then asked me to pay before painting. No problem right? Wouldn't want my freshly painted nails getting ruined digging in my purse for my choice of payment. So I signed with no tip in the tip slot due to the fact that there were signs all over the establishment stating 'PLEASE TIP WITH CASH IF POSSIBLE' which was my original plan. But once the originally kind man saw that I had not placed a tip on the credit card, he started being standoffish and frantic. He started rushing through my nails and acted rude. I work in the service industry, and as far as I'm concerned the tip doesn't come until AFTER the services are finished. Despite the man's attitude, I was still planning on tipping at this point during my experience. He finished up my nails which turned out nice. I can't complain about the quality so much. He rushed me to the drying station so he could start the customer that they took after they told me they had no time to do my pedicure. It was then where I had made up my mind about my entire experience at Gel-Q Nails. He placed my stuff that I could not carry down on the drying station and then goes on to say "I really hope you leave me a tip". Not even an "oh thank you so much for your business" I WAS FURIOUS AT THIS POINT. I would never ask a customer to leave me a tip. Tips are optional based on service. How embarrassing for that establishment to beg for tips. I waited for my nails to dry and I walked out. But don't worry it doesn't end there. I walk out and the man chases me out the door and yells after me "why didn't you leave me a tip?!!". I kept on walking appalled at what I had just witnessed. Next time, I hope the employees at Gel Q nails remember this instance and remind themselves to never beg or ask a customer for tips. Especially, because I wasn't ever planning on walking out leaving him empty handed until he demanded a tip.
So after this long and thorough explanation of my experience at Gel-Q Nails, I hope this man understands why he was left without a tip.
