| - This cab company is THE WORST!
I called them an hour before I needed a taxi (1:15pm for a taxi needed at 2:15pm on a weekday). They took my reservation and all seemed fine.
When the cab hadn't arrived by 2:15pm, I called to get an ETA. At that point, they said that a taxi hadn't yet been dispatched, but that they'd put me on their "priority list" and would dispatch one then. I asked how long they estimated it might be, because I would miss my bus if it was going to be too long. They said they wouldn't have an ETA until they dispatched it. I'm not from Pittsburgh and wasn't staying downtown, so I didn't feel like I had a lot of options at that point. I hung up and hoped for the best.
Fifteen minutes later, it's now 2:30pm, and no taxi has arrived. I call again to get an ETA, and they tell me that they haven't yet dispatched a taxi to me, because ALL of their drivers are stuck in heavy traffic. Bear in mind that I called at 1:15pm to order a taxi, it's now 2:30pm, and they had my phone number along with my reservation, so could have called to tell me that they weren't going to be able to send anyone, especially after I explained that I was in danger of missing my bus if a taxi didn't arrive soon.
At this point I explain that I am absolutely going to miss my bus if someone doesn't get there soon, and the dispatcher tells me that she "wouldn't wait, and would try to find another means to get there." A TAXI WAS MY MEANS TO GET THERE. THAT'S WHY PEOPLE ORDER TAXIS, TO GET PLACES.
I wound up having to run down to the nearest main street with my luggage, hopped on the first bus that said "Downtown," even though I had no idea where it would let me off, and then had to sprint the final 5 blocks to the bus station with my luggage. I got there and the bus was already loaded and ready to leave, but I managed to get on with NO THANKS TO YELLOW CAB.
If you want a solid business idea, create a decent cab company in Pittsburgh. This company is largely the only game in town, and, I reiterate, they are absolutely THE WORST!
