  • Usually love Hyatt hotels. Was quite disappointed with this one. Networks, the main ground-floor bar and pub, was mediocre food, solid drinks and poor service. Attended with a convention group and waiter actually refused to issue individual tickets. Food was generally bland and uninspired. The pulled pork sandwich and cheeseburger were solid. I did enjoy the jalapeno infused margaritas that the bartender sometimes has available. You'll have to ask about availability. The pool area was tiny and disappointing. The room we had was dated, dark and relatively small. The TV in the room didn't work and when we called for repairs, it took two calls and two days to get fixed. Decent WiFi, even for gold status Hyatt Rewards members, costs $5 extra per day. The front desk was a mixed experience, usually pretty friendly, but one particular clerk certainly didn't enjoy her job or dealing with people. The gift shop clerk actually grunted at us when we dared to show up within 30 minutes of closing time to buy drinks and snacks. Speaking of which, water and drinks were quite expensive if bought anywhere in the hotel other than from the vending machines, which only took crisp $1 bills. Better off going to the drug store around the corner and loading up on provisions. When we inquired about extending our stay for a couple of days, we were quoted a $200 "special negotiated convention price". Meanwhile, rooms in most of the nearby hotels of similar or better quality were going for $150-180. We didn't extend. Packages delivered to the hotel incurred an extra $5 handling fee per package. The Einstein's Bagel shop on the ground floor was good and efficient. All-in-all, unless you need it for the convenience of access to the convention center or a downtown game, I can't recommend this hotel. Last year we stayed at the Sheraton next door and had a much better experience. Edited: While my visit wasn't great, the owner reached out and took responsibility, did his best to make it right. So plus for customer service and will check it out next ICON show to compare.
