  • Today is the first day I've written both a 1-star and a 5-star review for the same company. Thankfully, this one is the good one. -glowing halo replacing devil horns on my head- This is the flagship urban Loblaws Store and as such, I would expect nothing but the best here, at an already outstanding chain, and I am not left wanting. The size is huge (my partner doesn't like coming here simply because I could literally spend the whole day shopping for groceries at this location). They have everything available, including stuff that I simply wouldn't be able to find at a normal grocery store, stuff that I would typically need to go to a specialty or higher-end source for, like fresh oysters and shellfish, exotic fruits, seasonal greens & veggies, imported items, and high quality meats. Staff are generally professional and very friendly, accommodating and helpful. If anything, the only people problem I have are with some of the customers who are occasionally prissy and undeservingly snotty (invariably, these people wind up complaining about things that make it clear that they have no class whatsoever). This just makes you appreciate the staff even more. I've never had to park here (don't even know if they have parking), since it's effectively at the intersection of a subway line and a major streetcar route. Sure things are a little pricier than they are elsewhere, but if you're going for value alone, that's what No Frills stores are for. And if you don't know that you can find some items for a fraction of the price somewhere else, that's your own fault. Everything is easy to find (except possibly for the frozen desserts which are divided between the main frozen foods section and a smallish freezer near the baked goods counter). My one suggestion would be to adopt the same smaller profile double-decker carts you can find elsewhere. This location does have double-decker carts, but the bottom basket sticks out like a full-sized one, but is offset from the back giving less capacity than a full-sized cart (I figure that they simply wanted to standardize on a single cart type that satisfies both large and small shopping trips, but somehow doesn't seem to satisfy either). Any criticisms I have are minor, though. This is, simply-put, the best grocery store I've ever been to.
