| - I had the most pleasant experience today with Valley ENT that began with my first phone call to schedule an appointment. I spoke to the friendliest, most helpful woman to whom I am incredibly grateful for going out of her way to accommodate our needs. We waited about 45 minutes to see Dr McKenna, which was totally expected. The staff was kid friendly, and did not seem irritated by my hyperactive nine year old son (who told them I was not wearing underwear, which was totally untrue)... Dr McKenna was awesome with my son who said "he was nice" when we left. He NEVER does that. Dr McKenna spoke tomy son, picked up on it when my son's anxiety spiked, and was quick to diffuse it with logic and compassion. It can't be easy explaining a tonsillectomy to a 9 year old, but Dr McKenna did.
There were people griping about the facility in the waiting room, but they were crabby when they walked in. I wouldn't change anything about our experience, and I would highly recommend Dr McKenna to a friend.
Update: my son had his tonsils removed yesterday, and if I could give Dr McKenna ten stars, I would. Five is not enough. Before surgery, we were all a nervous wreck, especially my son, John. Dr McKenna sat with us for 20 minutes easing our fears and making John comfortable. He didn't want to force John to do something he was uncomfortable with. After the surgery, Dr McKenna spoke to my husband and me for 20 minutes because he wasn't going to leave without ensuring we had all the info we needed to care for his patient. The nurses at the surgery center were getting ready to release us, then realized we were Dr McKenna's patient, and we had to stay longer because he keeps his patients longer than other doctors. We were there long enough for John to get an entire bag of IV fluids, and I honestly believe those extra fluids saved us a trip to the ER today for dehydration. I cannot thank Dr McKenna enough for his wisdom, compassion, and care.
