It seems as though my quest for one of the highly sought after compact cars continues its downward spiral. My husband and I stopped here and to my amazement was greeted by the same dealer who sold me my daughter's Focus a few years back.
Anyway we told him we wanted to try the Civic but this time wanted to test drive the EX version. Again we were given what I call a "test" drive around the block so to speak. I was trying to decipher the large pad in the center and got mediocre answers to my questions. Sorry, I need to become familiar with the way these newfangled screens operate so I can feel comfortable when driving.
After the ride he showed us the service department and the express service department for basic things such as oil changes and inspections.
It seemed like we had constant long waits while I was waiting for a price let alone the value of the trade. After collecting our information he told us that based on the cost of the car he would strongly recommend financing. DUH? Through the dealership? With their financing promo ending in 4 days? I don't think so. How I choose to pay for a car is my decision and I have the right to go where I feel I can get a descent rate. I hate being rushed so I frankly told him I would buy the car outright.
Again, I asked about the manual and want to see the maintenance schedule. We were shown the manual and cd in the car and he got us a maintenance schedule. It appears this car according to their guidelines requires quite a number of visits and a major service interval would run in the neighborhood of $400.00! I inquired about the oil. He told me that I could use either regular or synthetic. Synthetic oil, however, would last longer. The car will notify me of the need to change it. Gee, I didn't think cars were that smart to detect what type of oil was used in it.
He told us the car we had in mind was off the lot but he could get it to us within a day. Again what am I doing? Internet shopping for a car? I want to see what I buy especially if this is major investment! He gave us the VIN for insurance purposes and we left saying that I would call him next week.
When I got home can compared offers I saw that they discounted this car less than the other dealership we had visited earlier that day. I have been researching their service department as well and have noticed they aren't the best.
Years ago I dealt with this company when it was called Yenko Honda. I had previously owned Accords and remember spending a fortune on maintaining them.
It seems to me that making quotas and commission take precedence over customer service. The quoted write up was nothing more than I would write on paper. I'm sorry. A major investment to me requires a breakdown let alone all those other "frills" they try to get you with even before they hand the keys to you.
