People in Brecksville treat this place like a holy shrine to ice cream. In the Fall, HH puts up a sign announcing their last day of the year. Rain or shine, on that day, there's a line out the door and sad people walk away with their last turtle sundae or pineapple milkshake. Sometime in February, they post a sign reminding us that it opens on March 17th. Every person in Brecksville shows up and orders their usual. Some people get loaded on St. Patty's day but around here, people get honey hut.
They sell something called a Destroyer which is just a gigantic ice cream sundae and little league teams show up and work one done with twenty spoons. The turtle sundae is amazing. Milkshakes and cones are better than you'd think. It's always crowded and it's always good.
Some guy from the New York Times drove around the country a few years back looking for the best ice cream places and the Honey Huts (there'a more than one) made his list. When I showed them the article, they gave me a free whatever.
The only other place around is Handel's which isn't worth the calories. The DQ in town closed up shop because people would rather wait (and pay double) to eat at Honey Hut.
The service is always quick and the people are nice enough...it even smells good in there......
