  • This review is a bit tricky because of the different physical states I was in when I tried the cupcakes. Purchase #1: I feel stranded and I am starving. If you look at me for more than three seconds, you may become a nice main course. Luckily, Desmond and Beatrice is right around the corner but I want real food not cupcakes. However, the thought of digging in IMMEDIATELY I pay the bill is very appealing. If I go for proper food, the server will inevitably be the entry so ready made cupcakes it is. Bummer, they are pretty much sold out. There is only one mint chocolate chip cupcake left. The lady is friendly and encourages me to give it a try and given my state of hunger, I can't be picky so I ask for a takeout but never make it out the door. I sit inside and open my takeout plastic and dig into the mint choc chip. Yum!! I really enjoy it. It doesn't even taste minty at all which I prefer. It just has the "idea" of mint, if that makes any sense. My fave part of this cupcake is the saltiness. Yes, it actually has some saltiness to it and the lady confirms this. AH-mazing! Purchase #2: Hmmm that mint chocolate chip cupcake was heavenly. Now lets put them through the red velvet test. I get 3 red velvets and a keylime cupcake. Both flavours have cream cheese icing. I am fully satiated this time and not in a hurry. When I get home, I try them out. The key-lime is quite doughy and heavy. The red velvet is not bad but it is not great either. The icing is SWEET!! Too. Much. Sugar. So the question is this- Was the mint chocolate chip cupcake as amazing as I thought it was or was it my hunger that made it so appealing? Perhaps my second experience was my true opinion of the cupcakes. I guess we will never know until I sample the Mint Chocolate Chip seductress again. Just a little side note for those who care about this- the icing is larger than the cupcake itself. If icing is your best part, you will be getting more bang for your bucks here.
