DIY: "Do it yourself!" Seriously, do everything yourself. Find tools yourself. Find plants yourself. Consider operating the dangerous pipe-cutting machine yourself, because no one in the store can track down the one person that is certified to operate it and it's going to take at least an hour of waiting, not knowing if he'll ever show up, before you can get a pipe cut to the size you need.
Just about anything you could ever need for home improvement is contained within this warehouse somewhere. Once you find the tool you need, you can listen to the staff grumble about how terrible it is to work here as they ring you up.
When your tool stops working, re-explain the issue to three different employees over the course of an hour before they finally agree to send it into the manufacturer for a replacement. You will eventually get a replacement.
