| - Ever since my Yelp buddy, Harmonie T. enticed me with her review of Holstein's, I've been excited to sample a little slice of Vegan goodness in the center of the strip.
After a combination of a mono-rail excursion, then a little bit of street hiking (shout out to Eugene L) along with good ol' fashioned Casino hopping, we arrived at the fancy-hip casual dining of Holstein's. Was it worth the trip? Eh not so much...
The Urth Burger itself was quite tasty. It had the faint flavor of a Thanksgiving Day stuffing. I actually liked it by itself. Unfortunately the thick bun, and toppings overwhelmed the flavor of the main ingredient. It's not bad by any means, it's just nothing special.
The thick cut fries that came with it were very good. Crisp & well seasoned, you can't ask for much more in a deep fried slice of potato. Unfortunately the Sweet Potato Fries that we ordered on the side came out cold as if they had been sitting out until we ordered them.
When our waitress was asked to replace them with a fresh order, all service was halted to our table after she brought out a much better tasting fresh batch. She refilled the water glasses at the table next to us, while leaving mine nearly empty. She didn't offer to refill it until she brought the check at the end of the meal. By then we were ready to go.
With a mediocre burger, piss poor service, and lack of a Vegan shake (No more Guava Float according to the waitress) to match the tasty looking alcoholic milkshakes that piqued my interest, I would rather hop on The Deuce to find better Vegan options elsewhere.
