So, I went to Southwest Medical for my first pregnancy. I went through two OB/GYN specialists that I loved, but they moved to a far location so I ended up seeing a variety of specialists at the location nearest to my home.
The location had about 6+ specialists on rotation and the office recommends that you see them all because there is not one set doctor who will deliver your baby. I ended up getting delivered by a doctor I never saw and who made me feel uncomfortable throughout the labor.
I didn't want this experience for my second pregnancy. I wanted one or two doctors to consult with throughout the process. I wanted consistency and a more personal experience. So I found Dr. Langdon.
The staff had always been kind and attentive. It's a small office and my first problem was wait times. I waited around for at least an hour before even going into a room for most appointments. This is an unfortunate circumstance for uncomfortable and sick pregnant women. But I always brushed it off because I figured seeing a consistent doctor would be totally worth it. No big deal.
When I was brought into a room, Dr. Langdon was often in the back area. I would walk right past her and there was never any acknowledgement or greeting of any kind. Totally understand, she's busy. But I always found this aspect of the office to be extremely awkward.
Dr. Langdon was always very knowledgeable and answered questions well. She was also quick and visits were short. This would actually be a huge positive for me, but given the lengthy wait times it often didn't feel like seeing her for three minutes was worth coming.
When I went into labor, I was at the hospital for at least a couple hours before giving birth. I continually asked them about contacting my doctor and was very verbal when I felt the need to push and have the baby. I don't know who is at fault, maybe the hospital never really notified her - all I know is that my doctor never showed up.
Luckily, I had a positive experience with the on-site doctor. But after all the trouble of switching providers and all the visits with Dr. Langdon, I am now two months out from having given birth and have never heard so much as a word from her office since my delivery. No follow-up at the hospital and not even a phone call for missing my labor, scheduling a post-partum appointment, congratulations, or anything else. Just nothing.
With that said, I am extremely disappointed and my entire pregnancy experience with this doctor feels like it was a huge waste of time and money. If I ever become pregnant again, I won't be returning to this office.
