| - Thought you guys might like to see some excerpts from a recent email I had to send.. these people are more concerned about their investors then they are their tenants.
Good afternoon. This mail is in regards to the property located at......
On Monday 6/11/2018 I called the Maintenance Number for a complaint on my AC Unit. I explained that the unit was making a terrible noise (almost like a jet engine) and that this noise, though located inside the house, was also able to be heard from outside the home. I also explained the unit was not cooling as it had prior to the noise. At this time the unit, though screaming, was still blowing a small amount of cold air. By mornings end the unit escalated in volume and then seized. When this occurred I let the Maintenance Department know.
During this entire Process I Reminded Invitation Homes that I have a Child with the Chronic Disease, Cystic Fibrosis. For those of you that are unaware of what this disease is here is a brief description. My 14 year old Son has a lung disease known as Cystic Fibrosis. is a genetic disorder that affects mostly the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and intestine.Long-term issues include difficulty breathing and coughing up mucus as a result of frequent lung infections.[1] Other signs and symptoms may include sinus infections, poor growth, fatty stool, clubbingof the fingers and toes, and infertility in most males.
Our Child Functions with a 68%-70% lung function. The same as a 65 yo smoker with emphysema. Evan also lives in the Hospital roughly 3 mos out of the year.
This is important for several reasons.
1st- Our air conditioning system creates a healthy, stable temperature 68-72 degrees that allows for Evan to not have do go through Pulmonary Distress.
2nd- The in unit Filtration system with the assistance of a portable secondary air filtration system eliminates spores, molds, dust, pollen, and various bacteria that are ever present. All of which Evan is extremely allergic to.
3rd- The Unit with the help of a secondary dehumidifier reduces the moisture in the air which lessens the chance of mold growth inside the home.
All of this being said, Im pretty sure that you can understand where some of my concerns lie.
If the air conditioners that are being offered, require us to keep our windows open, I ask that you please remember that we live in a society where people break in to homes, and Id rather not invite them in with an open window for a hose. In addition to this... I find it rather appalling that an offer of $100 a night for a hotel seems acceptable to your company. We reported this issue with this unit back in late January/early February. The technician came out and said that he would need authorization to fix the unit. Upon contacting the offices at Invitation Homes he was told that the unit was not to be fixed and that it would only be repaired when it broke. Back in the winter I at least had a fireplace. Now I have nothing except the consolation prize of a $100 a night for a hotel. We have 5 ppl in our family and enough medical equipment for a hospital room.. We would need 2 rooms!!!! Did I say that I reported this back during the winter season??
In addition to this... (its almost laughable at this point right?) We received confirmation that an appt was made for a Technician to come look at our unit for Monday between the hours of 4 & 7p. I asked repeatedly for eta's as I have to leave my work to meet someone. I showed at the house and at 6:52 pm I called invitation homes maintenance line to inform them that I had not heard from the technician and that I needed an Eta. After CSR got back on the phone I was informed that he could be there by 8:30p. !!!!!!!!!!! WTF? I left work to meet a tech that was supposed to be at my house, during my peak hours of business to meet a no-show!! No call.. I had to call you!!!!!
We had to check in to a hotel that night. If you read any of the information that I sent you regarding CF you will realize that packing for a night isn't easy. Its feeding tubes, nebulizers, temperature controlled medications, air compressor for his chest physiotherapy, feed for the feeding tubes, and a suitcase full of additional medications.
We stayed in the house Tuesday night as the temperatures were very reasonable and the service tech came out to evaluate the situation. His exact words. I cant tell you what's wrong with it, I only tell the landlord. To which I chuckled and told him that I already knew it was shot. He informed us that he needed to submit a quote to invitation homes and that I should hear something in the morning.
I started calling at 8:30a just so folks at your company would know the severity of the situation. And here it is 3:41pm and all I know is that a part has been ordered.
Now our entire family has to be inconvenienced yet again. I know that you are all aware that our rental history with you has been overwhelmingly unpleasant.
