| - I have fond memories of Cost Plus as a child growing up in the Bay Area. It's a shopping experience where I found Botan Rice Candy with each chewy sweet in wrapped in delicate paper. It's a place where I stopped for Chinese cotton Mary Jane shoes, outdoor swing chairs, teapots with infusers, and an array of teas. Stacks of boxes aligned the rows to showcase a world of interesting things to peruse for all the senses.
At Cost Plus on Rainbow Blvd. I was greeted kindly at the door. I headed toward the food aisles to locate sweets and specialty items from Scotland. I found orange marmalade, lemon curd, shortbread, tea biscuits, and tea cakes. To supplement my shopping list, the shelves store UK and English pantry foods and treats.
Here's my recommendation for customers. Upon your visit, provide yourself additional time to hunt and peck. The food section looked like a desert dust devil whirled it's way through the six aisles. All products are not in there respective places, items are out of stock, and labeling is hit or miss. Fortunately, I had an idea of items to shop for and I was shopping alone. If I was shopping with children or without previous product knowledge, the experience would have felt frustrating.
I was asked by the cashier if I found my experience satisfactory, I made a comment to the check out clerk about the disorganization of the inventory. If the items were sorted and labeled accurately, I would have happily made more purchases. But, when I can't find what you're in search of, I throw up my hands and move on to another venue.
When shopping, I look for a well organized set up, good condition, fair priced and available merchandise. Keep those happy memories alive Cost Plus and address the presentation of both your specialty foods and toy and gift aisles.
