| - Nice, upscale Latin/Mexican restuarant. I've been here once before as part of a large group and we sat on the patio. I distinctly remember excellent service and a great atmosphere. This time my small group sat inside and also had a good experience.
I'm 28 with "perfect" vision (thanks to Lasik), and I almost turned my phone flashlight on to read the menu. I mean really. It's insane dark in there, but I suppose it makes it intimate and romantic (just what I needed with my coworkers. :))
The service was pretty good. A little inconsistent and the last round of drinks took upwards of 15 minutes, but she was knowledgable on the menu and friendly. The man refilling my water glass was on it though, which I definitely appreciated! I had the blood orange margarita and it was excellent. I couldn't taste (or feel) the tequila, but the flavor was delicious.
Anyway, on to the food. The chips are served warm and they are the perfect thickness (which is thin, in case you are wondering). The salsa is great, a little smoky, a little spicy and overall just great. We ordered the tableside guacamole and had the person make it spicy. It was definitely spicy and also delicious. Probably the best guacamole I've ever had but I can't pinpoint why.
I ordered the Jidori chicken and it was just OK. Nothing extremely special, just marinated chicken served on the bone. The cheesy rice it comes with is outstanding though. However, the dish is most certainly not worth $30.
Overall, I'll probably be back, but only as long as someone else is paying.
