| - On our yearly vacation to Vegas, we chose the Venetian to try out this time around, as it had a pretty good room deal, plus one of our favourite restaurants is located just off the casino area. We arrived in the early afternoon on a Wednesday and while it was pretty busy we were directed to a check-in counter very quickly and a friendly clerk made our registration fast and efficient. She gave us directions as it was a bit confusing how to navigate through the various elevators and corridors to our room, and we headed to our residence to drop off our luggage.
If you're new to the Venetian, it really is a bit confusing and somewhat difficult to get around. We were required to take two separate banks of elevators to get to our rooms which seemed to be in a completely different building. Fortunately some friendly guests and a few employees were able to help direct us around so we found our way around quickly.
Our room itself was quite large with bathroom first (near the front door), followed by the bed area, then a sitting room which was a step down and separated by a railing, giving the impression of a sort of two-room style. We also had two tvs, one at the foot of the bed and one in the sitting room (and both somehow controlled by the same remote if you pointed it at the right angle). Overall the room was nice but the layout left a bit to be desired as we felt a bit uncomfortable with the stair down (we felt we didn't need a step when returning to the room after a night of drinking) and the location of the bed directly next to the toilet meant you could literally hear every noise right through the wall. The view was nice but the layout could have been a bit better.
For the price, the size and the service, this was a good deal and for one of the upper end hotels, it's definitely nothing to sneeze at for sure. Out of preferred Vegas hotels on the strip, it's not one of my upper choices though, but it is definitely nice to check out at least once and isn't a bad option if you have particular restaurants or shows right in that area and want to minimize your walking or travel times.
