All the things that go into a proper barber shop are found at Mister. Michael is not your Grandfather's barber...but then again is that what you really want? I've tried going to the barber shops that have been around for 30+ years and almost all of those guys are going through the motions. Somewhere in the middle of the 20th century we completely lost touch with the American tradition of experiencing a proper barbershop and getting our hair cut cleanly and elegantly by a professional barber.
I walked into Mister on a lark because I saw a bit of an "old-timey" look. The tradition is there, but with all the nuances of a modern approach to service and delivery. Michael has been around the salon industry, and he has also apprenticed and worked as a formal barber.
Mister is clearly his vision of taking the best of both old and new and delivering a 21st century customer experience. Immediately following the great conversation, the unique decor, and the fantastic haircut...something hit me right as I walked out the door...I couldnt wait to go back. When was the last time that ever happened to you after getting your hair cut?
For me, it had never happened before. I've found my new barber in Pittsburgh. All is well.
