I can easily say that I didn't really appreciate Hoover Dam until I got there. I mean, I knew it was big (and it didn't let me down), but I learning what a technological undertaking it was for its time, its historical influence and its role in the region and to the USA and its testament to the hope and determination of man during the Great Depression that blew me away. And its presence is as relevant to the region back then as it is today.
I loved seeing the art deco influence in the dam's design. It's so apparent and beautiful.
The information in the museum and in the short film was well presented and our tour guide's additional factoids was the icing on the cake.
I was disappointed that we were not allowed to take a trip inside the dam. We were told the elevator was broken and were waiting on parts.
If you are close to this place, I highly recommend you make a stop to see this architectural marvel.
