New Suns season is always an exciting time! I went to the first game of the season and was so disappointed with the staff. I usually sit in the Loge Boxes with access to the all-you-can-eat buffet at Club Annexus and I've always had a 5 star experience.
This game however, I was invited to a suite but the experience wasn't as good. I don't know if everyone got yelled at before their shift started but all the staff was grouchy, no one was happy and it showed. The guy checking tickets at the elevator was arguing with his coworker and they had to finish before he could check my ticket. The woman checking tickets at the entrance to the suites gave me a blank stare when I asked her if I could bring my drink past her. I walked pass her but then the first guy who was arguing with his coworker saw me and asked me who let me pass with a drink and then he walked me back to her so he could scold both of us for passing her threshold without pouring my beer into a cup. Then I was talking to one of the servers in the suite about the food and she started telling me how much every plate costs and how much of it will go to waste and then it turned to homeless. I started feeling like a bourgeois asshole for sitting in a Suns suite while eating $300 platters of food as my eyes searched the room for the bottle of champagne because I needed something stronger than miller lite to deal with these people.
Lastly, we had to scan our tickets so we could go outside and come back in. It was an ordeal because we had to find a security guard who had the special scanner that would allow re-entry on tickets. We are of course denied entry on the way back inside, special scanned re-entry tickets are meaningless to this lady. I tell her the entire story about how guy A takes us to find guy B so he can scan our tickets so that we CAN come back inside. As I'm explaining this to her, I'm pointing these men out off in the distance and demanding that she call them over here to rectify the situation. She tells me it doesn't matter what they say because they aren't security guards. I demand to speak to her supervisor and I go through the saga again but this time I add that our 10 children are still in the suite upstairs so if they don't want to let us up they can wrangle them together and bring them down. She finally let us pass.
