| - Hampton Inn was the dog-friendly recommended hotel for folks showing dogs at the German Pinscher National Specialty and Concord AKC All-Breeds Show. Since Phil & I are more companion dog owner then show dog owner, we don't have a camper unlike many of the attendees (nor do we have camp chairs, bumper stickers, or show leads declaring our breed the best of the bunch). So we found ourselves spending two nights at the Hampton last weekend while we escorted our GP to her fourth show, as her breeders work on her championship points.
The Inn is right off the highway, but not so close that you hear the traffic. The rooms are clean and feel updated; though the regular rooms don't come with a fridge or microwave. Beds are comfy, several varieties of hot coffee are always available in the lobby, and the breakfast had some cool microwaveable pouches (sausage biscuits, pancakes & eggs, etc) that one-up ye olde waffle iron.
They welcome dogs, but also enforce a strict no-barking-disturbance policy. And to their credit, we didn't lose sleep over any canine caterwauling like we have elsewhere. The $99 rate is reasonable, and I'd stay there again if in the area.
