I've been a member of REI for decades. This is the one branch that I don't like. As you might expect from REI the shop is nice, the selection is great. It's fun to browse here and marvel at all the amazing gear. (5 stars)
It's the employees here that I don't care for. You practically have to beg them for help with a question. It's almost a self-service store. (Minus 2 stars)
The last visit was to research renting camping gear. An employee referred me to the bicycle guy. I guess he's the only guy in the store who knows about renting gear. So, you hang around waiting for him to finish with his customer.
Meanwhile, other employees are just lolling around. But they can't help. It's the bicycle guy. Finally he finishes. I ask about renting a tent. Renting gear is not his favorite subject. He's irritable. He doesn't want to spend any time helping with questions.
This and other visits to this store have left me reluctant to go there. I decided to buy gear elsewhere. To hell with them. Don't judge REI by this location. Their other locations are great.
