  • It's across the street from the NASCAR Museum, a block from the convention center, and the host to body building competitions (apparently). If you're coming into Charlotte from the north, you may get the impression that there's nothing but student housing around this location - not true - just a few blocks away are all of the restaurants one could hope for. And it's worth the trip, because while this location does have room service and a pretty sad, open til 10 pm on the weekends, -type bar, the food available onsite is scrape-your-tongue-terrible. Room / bathroom were clean and fine, except that window covering (yes, with inner shade liner pulled closed) did not block light from nearby buildings. Parking structure signage is fairly craptastic and guests appear entitled to stay parked in the very small "check in" zone damn near forever. Bigger problem is that even though signage indicates that both the Hampton Inn (?) and this location are accessible from the 4th and 5th level of the garage (note that the lower levels are reserved for valet parking), they don't mention that in all cases (fairly narrow, not designed for folks with accessibility issues, even if they don't require ramps) stairs are involved in getting to the hotel of choice. Further, the 5th level access route is completely open to the elements. Well, just awesome (channels the Lego theme song)!!! Because who doesn't just love extra bullshit thrown in their way just to have a normal night in a hotel, when paying for the opportunity? So, all in all, not thrilled. Location is fairly good to great. But crappy food / drink with terrible hours, window cover that doesn't, despite being across from the flashing, pulsating, neon light display that is the Nascar museum, and some terrible ADA "compliance" leave me feeling extraordinarily tired (hey, at least the strobing lights didn't spark a seizure, Imeanright???) and achey (don't get me started).
