| - We have dealt with many banks over the years but must admit that this bank is THE worst. We set up multiple accounts, a mortgage, loan, debit and credit cards. All started out well two years ago until our checking account got hacked this past April. We were instructed by the Fraud Dept. to cancel the account and all cards connected to it and open a new account, which we did the next morning. Within 24 hours the new account was hacked! Following that hack our savings account was also hacked a few days later, even after we received assurances that it could not happen. The hacking was not the biggest problem. The biggest problem was attempting to resolve the hacking with Wells Fargo employees. To start with, they are all very well trained to apologize for the incident. But we found that, across all departments, the employees who handle customers have no authority to solve problems and the employees with authority choose not to deal with customers. The Fraud Department personnel basically read from their computer screens and respond with predetermined answers whether they make sense or not. At the Retail level the employees are either nice people who cannot effectively solve problems or you'll get to experience the ones who act as the self ordained enforcement department where smiles are considered optional. Our conclusion, after multiple attempts to work with this bank, is that it is easy to see why they are riddled with scandals and poor performance. We believe that, when you put the facts together, our accounts were hacked from the inside and not from external parties. But the folks at every level at Wells Fargo made no effort to assure us that they would investigate this beyond restoring our lost funds. And we have many more hair raising encounters but not enough space to describe them all here. We have already moved a few accounts to Citibank and will be transitioning the rest by year end. If you're looking for headaches, sleepless nights, undue stress and high blood pressure I would encourage you to work with Wells Fargo. If, on the other hand, you need a customer oriented bank that will respond to your individual needs and gain your complete confidence, do yourself a big favor and go elsewhere. Wells Fargo is in deep, deep trouble and a downward spiral.
