Authorized AT&T stores are always my go-to place as a long-time Apple enthusiast. I especially appreciate the ability to purchase accessories on a six-month no-interest plan.
Customer service has always been good and it's one-stop for all things relative to my AT&T account. I've had four iPhones over the years beginning with the 5. The last two years I've upgraded with a 12-month plan and stopped at this store last week (as I happened to be in the area) to upgrade.
Things went as expected. Good, friendly service from Leann and the process of exchanging my 7+ to the new iPhone X was smooth. Just one problem... and to be fair I was warned at the beginning. Not Leann's fault, for sure. I was told the store had an insufficient WiFi signal to download my apps and activate my phone. Previously, I'd always walked out of the AT&T store with my new phone loaded with at least all the basic apps. But not this time. I tried the recommended McDonald's nearby, but to no avail. After about 20-minutes I realized my download was going nowhere.
Not having my Waze app available that I depend on to get around unfamiliar parts of town I decided to just hit the freeway and venture to the more familiar north end and a Starbucks I frequent. 45-minutes later the download went smoothly and I had a working iPhone.
Call me "crazy", just seems a bit unprofessional that a store that deals with so many WiFi based gadgets, would not have reliable WiFi.
