  • I'd give this place 2 1/2 stars if I could. It wasn't the worst ever, but I've stayed in nicer places. We stayed here on a whim because we saw a cheap stay offered on groupon. We checked in an hour early for free. It was a quick process, but the woman that helped us (Bianca) looked like she hated her job. Smile a little! We also were charged a 32 dollar "resort fee" (which basically all hotels do now) that covered our wifi, gym use and local phone calls. Our room in the masquerade tower was spacious but pretty lack-luster. The beds were comfortable for the most part, and the AC worked great which was a bonus. We had a partial view of the strip, but mostly overlooked the residential areas to the west of the strip. The unfortunate thing was our bathtub did not drain quickly - I was afraid to take a decent shower for fear of the tub filling up. The sink faucets also leaked on the counters when turned on. The bathroom also had a weird window where people in the main room could look in to the shower. Not sure what the point of that is. In addition to that, the walls are paper thing. We could hear our neighbors chatting and laughing for hours. Luckily we were only there for one night so we didn't have to put up with it for long. The groupon included a breakfast buffet for two which was a nice touch. Honestly that made the deal worth it, because buffets are so expensive in Vegas. The cooks were the some of the nicest staff I encountered in the entire hotel. The food was good too! I enjoyed the "made to order" pancakes they cooked for me. The Rio is located off the strip, but they offer a free shuttle to and from Harrahs and Ballys which was super convenient! Parking is also free which saves you a bit of cash. I'm not much of a gambler but I noticed that it was fairly quiet here compared to the casinos on the strip. That might be a bonus for some people who can't stand the big crowds. Overall it was good for a bargain, and a one night stay. If you're in Vegas for a longer period of time, or you have more money, other hotels would probably be a better option.
